We had great weather for our trip. The train was very spacious as we are big folks and that is sometimes an issue on trains. The staff was awesome and super well informed about the area and the train. Enjoy the sandwich. We would recommend this to everyone.
The Greenbrier Express over all was good. Me and my family of 8 went with a 3yr old. The tickets were a little pricey at 98 bucks a piece. There is no cell phone service in the area. So be prepared with activities for your little ones. They do have some coloring books and simple board games. The stop at Durbin was actually pretty cool. The lunch they serve should be better than cold cut sandwiches for the price you pay to ride. I do recommend getting the ice cream its delicious. You have an hour to tour the town then back in the train. The ride back the train does a 3 point turn so your seats will be on the opposite side you rode down on. The ride back seems slower than when you started but its a slow ride either way. The train might hit 8/10 MPH.
Enjoyable ride through the backwoods of WV to High Falls. The dining car was an adventure to get to, through a maze of hallways as the train rumbled down the tracks. Added charm to the entire experience but not recommended for those with less than stable walking conditions. Helpful assistants were available for those not willing to navigate between cars.
