Experience an unforgettable evening at the Kitt Peak National Observatory in Tucson, Arizona, with the Nightly Observing Program. The experience begins with a visit to the Visitor Center, where you can explore fascinating exhibits about the observatory and the history of astronomy. After enjoying a light meal, you will participate in a docent-led introduction to the night sky, learning how to identify prominent stars and constellations that define the celestial landscape from this high-altitude vantage point.

From nearly seven thousand feet above sea level, you will watch a colorful sunset before the sky transitions into total darkness. This is the perfect setting for guided stargazing using high-powered binoculars and a telescope located inside one of the observatory domes. The program is designed to provide an immersive look at the cosmos, allowing guests to view planets, nebulae, and distant star clusters in incredible detail. It is a truly magical experience for anyone who loves the night sky.

This four and a half hour program runs year-round and is specifically designed for adults and older children. A minimum of four guests is required for the program to operate, ensuring a high-quality experience for all participants. Warm, layered clothing and closed-toe shoes are essential due to the cold temperatures at the summit, even during warmer months. In the event of unfavorable weather, an alternate astronomy program may be offered to ensure guests still have a meaningful educational experience.

Guests will receive a weather update email at noon on the day of the program to confirm the status of the event. International visitors should carry their passports due to a border checkpoint along the route to the observatory. Please note that prices displayed do not include fees, and refunds are not offered for changing weather conditions.
