If you are curious about whitewater kayaking but want to explore the sport before committing fully, this program is the perfect way to start. Our river sessions focus on fundamental skills such as leans, setting angles, and performing eddy turns and peel outs. Using a games-based learning approach, we make kayaking fun and engaging from the very beginning, helping thousands of new paddlers gain confidence on the water. We emphasize enjoyment while teaching proper stroke techniques and responsible whitewater practices, ensuring every moment on the river is safe, rewarding, and exciting.
A whitewater kayak becomes an extension of your body, fitting snugly for maximum control and maneuverability. After introducing you to your equipment, we begin paddling in the security of a calm pond, practicing wet exits and basic strokes including sweep strokes, forward strokes, draws, and braces. Once comfortable, we move to flowing water to learn river maneuvers such as eddy turns, peel outs, and ferries. On the second day, paddlers continue refining these skills and conclude with a scenic multi-mile stretch of Class one to two river. The third day focuses on basic surfing, rolling, and practicing techniques while gaining confidence on the rapids of the Deerfield River or other local rivers. This step-by-step approach ensures steady skill development, fun, and safe adventure for all participants.
