Three-Day Whitewater Kayak Course Builds Skills for River Adventure

Explore the world of whitewater kayaking with a three-day program designed for beginners who want to experience the sport while building strong foundational skills. This immersive course introduces paddlers to essential techniques, river safety, and confident decision-making in a fun and supportive environment.

Using a games-based learning approach, instructors make every session engaging while teaching proper stroke techniques and responsible whitewater practices. Participants develop key skills such as leans, setting angles, eddy turns, and peel outs while learning how to control their kayak with greater confidence and precision.

The course begins in a calm pond setting where paddlers become familiar with their equipment and practice important techniques including wet exits, forward strokes, sweep strokes, draws, and braces. As skills improve, participants transition to moving water to practice river maneuvers such as ferries, eddy turns, and peel outs before completing a scenic multi-mile Class I to II river section.

The final day focuses on advancing skills through basic surfing, rolling practice, and confidence-building exercises on the rapids of the Deerfield River or other local waterways. With a gradual progression from fundamentals to real river experiences, this course provides a safe, exciting, and rewarding pathway for paddlers developing their whitewater abilities.
