Introductory Whitewater Kayak Course Builds Skills and River Confidence

Discover the excitement of whitewater kayaking with a beginner-friendly program designed for those who want to experience the sport before making a full commitment. This course introduces new paddlers to essential techniques while creating a fun, supportive, and confidence-building environment on the river.

Using a games-based learning approach, instructors help participants develop fundamental skills such as leans, setting angles, eddy turns, and peel outs. The program combines enjoyment with proper stroke instruction and responsible whitewater practices, ensuring every session is both safe and rewarding.

The experience begins in a calm pond setting where participants become familiar with their equipment and learn how to control a whitewater kayak. Students practice important safety techniques, including wet exits, along with foundational strokes such as forward strokes, sweep strokes, draws, and braces.

Once comfortable on flatwater, paddlers progress to moving water to practice river maneuvers like ferries, eddy turns, and peel outs. On the second day, participants refine their skills and complete a scenic multi-mile river section, creating an exciting and memorable introduction to whitewater kayaking while building lasting confidence on the water.
