A rare heritage rail experience is transporting passengers back to the grandeur of Victorian travel aboard the meticulously restored Prince of Wales Carriage. Once used by Prince Albert Edward, later King Edward VII, the carriage has been carefully revived to reflect the sophistication and design of 1870s rail travel, offering a striking glimpse into Britain’s royal railway past.

The historic carriage, restored by Stately Trains at Embsay in 2023, has earned recognition through three National Transport Trust awards for its preservation and craftsmanship. Departing from Bolton Abbey Station, the journey winds through the picturesque Yorkshire Dales, allowing guests to enjoy tranquil countryside views from an authentically styled Victorian setting.

The route continues to the Grade II listed Embsay Station before returning to Bolton Abbey, giving passengers ample time to relax and take in the surrounding scenery. Onboard, guests are treated to a refined afternoon tea service featuring sandwiches, cakes, Yorkshire Tea or coffee, accompanied by a glass of prosecco for added elegance.
