At 8:30am or 1:30pm, your guide will meet you outside Exit A of Yuexiu Park on metro line 2, holding a signage with your name. You will begin your tour by climbing up Yuexiu Park to see the iconic Five Rams Sculpture, a symbol of the city. According to local legend, five immortals riding rams arrived in Guangzhou bringing rice, blessing the city with abundance and freedom from famine. The sculpture, built in 1959, honors this story and the origin of Guangzhou’s name. While in the park, you'll also explore a section of the Old City Wall from the Ming Dynasty, about 600 years old. The next stop is the Museum of the Tomb of the Nanyue King of the Western Han Period. This site includes the original tomb, discovered in 1983 during hotel construction, which dates back over 2,200 years. The museum’s exhibition hall displays numerous relics excavated from the tomb and other parts of Guangzhou, offering insight into the city's ancient history.
Afterward, you’ll take the metro to the Academy of Chen Clan, also known as the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall. Built in 1894 by 72 Chen families, the complex was originally used for preparing for imperial examinations. It features traditional Cantonese architecture with richly detailed decorations made of wood, stone, brick, pottery, plaster, and iron, visible throughout the building’s beams, ridges, and columns. Your final stop will be Shamian Island, a peaceful area known for its European-style architecture that reflects its colonial history under British and French rule. Here, you'll stroll along the tree-lined streets and enjoy views of the White Swan Pool and Pearl River waterfront. Your half-day cultural exploration concludes at Shamian Island, where you can easily catch a taxi or metro back to your hotel.

Canton Tower is quite nice and worth a short visit if you have nothing else planned. I’ve seen many towers around the world, so it didn’t feel very special to me, but the view and atmosphere are pleasant for a casual walk. However, one irritating thing is the large number of freelance photographers loitering around, constantly approaching visitors to take photos for a fee. It can be quite annoying and ruins the relaxed experience a bit.

There are many viewing platforms in the city to get nice shots of this tower. The waistline figure of it is better seen from afar.

“Guangzhou is a once-in-a-lifetime destination — the true world market for manufacturers and a hub of global trade. China is far ahead of many parts of the world in technology, and you can feel that energy here. Don’t miss the stunning Canton Tower at 450 metres high, best enjoyed between 8 PM and 10 PM for unforgettable city views.”

At the reception your be offered a selection of packages to enjoy. View points and rides. We enjoyed it, and felt comfortable even at the top.

This a marvelous piece of modern engineering, featuring restaurants and a 488-meter tall observation deck. Ticket prices are reasonable, and the panoramic views at nighttime are simply unforgettable.
