Guangzhou Historical Day Tour By Metro & Boat

Your guide will meet you outside Exit B1 of Yuexiu Park station on Metro Line 2 in Guangzhou to begin your day tour. The first stop is the Museum of the Tomb of the Nanyue King of the Western Han Period, where you will delve into Guangzhou’s rich history dating back 2,200 years. Next, you will climb Yuexiu Park to see the city’s symbol, the 5 Rams Sculpture, erected in 1959 to represent a local legend. Within the park, you will also explore a section of the Old City Wall, constructed during the Ming Dynasty about 600 years ago. Afterwards, the tour continues to the Academy of Clan Chen, also known as the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, an academic temple built in 1894 during the late Qing Dynasty. This beautiful complex showcases traditional Cantonese architecture and serves as a folk art museum displaying exquisite wooden, stone, and brick carvings, pottery, plaster, and iron engravings, all of which your local guide will explain.

Later, you will take the metro to Shamian Island, a former British and French colony that boasts well-preserved European-style buildings and is a popular spot for locals to take wedding photographs. From Shamian Island, you will embark on a scenic boat ride along the Pearl River, enjoying views of the riverside buildings and cityscape. Your journey will end at the iconic Canton Tower, standing 600 meters tall. If you wish, you may purchase a ticket to visit the observation deck and overlook the city at your own expense. A delicious Cantonese Dim Sum lunch is included during the tour. The day concludes at Canton Tower, from where you can take a taxi or metro back to your hotel independently.
