Feel like royalty for the day as you travel in Queen Victoria’s Royal Saloon on the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway. Guests are welcomed with a glass of Prosecco before enjoying a freshly prepared Afternoon Tea while journeying through the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Built for the London and South Western Railway’s Royal Train, the coach was adapted to become Queen Victoria’s personal saloon during her Golden Jubilee. She traveled in it from Waterloo to Gosport, continuing by Royal Yacht to Osborne House. Over the years, several European heads of state also used the coach for state visits to Britain, adding to its historic significance.

Following Queen Victoria’s death, the saloon continued in royal service before being converted into a family coach and eventually sold in the early twentieth century. It later served as a gamekeeper’s home before being preserved and restored by Stately Trains in Embsay. Now, it offers a rare opportunity for passengers to experience nineteenth-century royal travel in luxury and style. Each journey is intimate and exclusive, with passenger numbers limited, allowing a truly memorable and unique afternoon immersed in history and elegance.
