The historical city itself is quite small. Traffic was very bad & drivers seem to be a bit more impatient & rough. We didn't think it was worth a special visit. If you happen to be passing by then maybe. When we visited in October, it was packed with uni students with black robes. They were very noisy, it spoiled the atmosphere a bit.

We love the north of Portugal and Guimaraes is the historical epicenter of the country. It’s rich in history and has a peaceful vibe to it that wraps itself around you and makes you feel like you’ve always belonged there. We believe that this is a city that you should not pass on.

This historical city center is beautiful and as we explore the nearby places in the walking tour it gives a proper sighting of this old city. The place is beautiful with old roman architecture and it blowing with colorful houses. There are houses across the street which are connected by an arch is a sight to behold.
