I attended just Tea ceremony but without the Geisha as the tour was booked in advance by my tour operator and we were on a tight schedule for the day. Loved the ceremony as we were all dressed in Kimono 👘 and looked so pretty 😍 sorry to say I did not enjoy the Macha and did apologies for wasting it. The entire ceremony was so delicate and need a lot of patience to understand the whole process. Instead of wearing the kimono and roaming the streets, we decided to just get some pictures clicked at the garden behind the house. Dressing up was a fun, selecting our own colour and then the hair accessories was fun, the staff were so helpful with selecting the right colour and getting us dressed. Loved every part of the dressing us 🥰

We had the most wonderful private tea ceremony with Nao and maiko Himimaru, a truly unforgettable and touching experience. Himimaru was so graceful and beautifully dressed, like a painting, and performed a wonderful dance. It was fascinating to be able to spend some time asking her questions about her life and career. Cannot recommend highly enough.

When I was looking for a Geisha experience I was lucky enough to come across Maikoya. I really wanted to have an “ethical” interaction while here in Kyoto and with Maikoya we were able to experience the maiko performance, ask questions and even take photos! (For private use, don’t be a jerk and post them when you’ve been asked not to). Even the guys were really pleasantly surprised by how much they enjoyed the performance as it was very interactive and interesting. I was able to rent kimonos for me and a friend, and when getting dressed in the kimonos everyone was so kind and really made sure we had a great time. It was a lot of fun to have someone dress you up and do your hair, and the selection of kimonos was fantastic (even in the afternoon). This was honestly an incredible way to have an interaction while also being respectful.

A wonderful and interesting experience. You will get a history class included and the learn the right way to show respect. You will learn the understanding of respect. Tea ceremony is much more that what you think it is. You will get kimonos and traditional wear you can use it afterwards till 18:00 to walk around the area and take pictures in their garden or outside. Ichi go ichi e could become a great life motto.

Muy bien, Manuel nos compartió bastante información sobre los lugares visitados.

A truly unique and wonderful experience! Our geisha was beautiful and performed wonderful dances and interacted with the audience. The audience wasn’t too large which made the whole experience feel very intimate. And our authentic matcha tea was wonderful. This was one of the best things we did in Kyoto!
