We started our hike at 7 am from upper motithang and it was the hike of 2 hrs , while going upward there's a resting place named canopy 1, 2, and 3 . The view you get after getting up their is no joke it was mesmerising and peaceful 😌 ✨️ we spend a night their to visit dungtsho and the morning sunrise view was very beautiful Idk how to say it with word but you must experience yourself . Must experience this in you life atleast once . Happy hike peaceout✌️

The 9th Je Khenpo (Chief Abbot) of Bhutan associated with Phajoding Monastery was Gyelwa Shakya Rinchen (1710-1759), who significantly expanded the monastic complex around 1748, making it a key meditation site, though the original foundation dates to the 13th century by Phajo Drugom Zhigpo. Shakya Rinchen established it as his retirement sanctuary, and his image is central in the main temple, Khangzang Lhakhang, at Phajoding.

Beautiful monastary perched way above the city. Good 2-3 hrs of hike will bring you there but the journey itself is exhilarating. Thought I might not make it but wonderful to have the trail all under shade and except for some places, the climbs are not so steep. Few rest areas with clean toilets on the way which was helpful. Ther were few magpies who are used to humans. They followed us up for quite a distance. The views from the top is spectacular. We planned to reach the highest point but since it was later afternoon we discussed to leave it for next time. Would suggest to start early by 7am if you want to reach the highest point of the mountain above the monastery.
