When most people think of Rome, the first image that comes to mind is undoubtedly the ruins of the ancient empire—its grand temples, majestic forums, and timeless structures that have withstood the test of time. However, in recent years, Rome has experienced an artistic transformation that may surprise you. Beyond the ancient monuments and baroque churches, the city is now embracing modernity with a new wave of artistic expression in the form of vibrant street art and innovative concrete decor. This fresh wave of creativity is changing the urban landscape, infusing the city with color, bold designs, and contemporary flair.
As you explore the streets of Rome, you’ll see how artists are blending traditional influences with modern techniques, turning bare walls into expansive canvases and turning everyday spaces into unexpected galleries. The city’s art scene is now evolving with designs that range from eye-catching murals to modern architectural touches that are pushing the boundaries of creativity. This fusion of old and new is a testament to how art continues to develop throughout time—preserving history while boldly reimagining the future. So, take a moment to step away from the well-worn tourist paths and observe how Rome’s streets are evolving into an ever-changing gallery, where the past meets the present in the most colorful and surprising ways. You’ll find this artistic revolution not just on walls, but even in the drinks you sip, as local bars and cafes are increasingly incorporating creative and artistic presentations into their offerings, bringing a new sense of taste and design to your experience in the city.

Get off the beaten path with Giulia. She was a great guide to the real side of Rome and its street art. There is amazing art to be seen beyond the museums if you know where to look, and Giulia does. She developed a great itinerary for us and even when the weather got a little rough took as to some very cool museums frequented mostly by locals. She also was kind enough to develop a list of spots to visit on our own once she got to know us and what kind of Roma experience we wanted. Check out her blog blocal too for her insights on many great cities.

Giulia is a wealth of knowledge about the Street Art Scene in Rome and beyond! We spent today exploring the streets of Rome on a customized tour together. Earlier in the week I explored some by myself on foot, using her street art map, but being on a tour in person with her is much richer and more educational. I learned the history behind the murals we saw, as she has interviewed many of the artists for various articles she has written. She was able to shape the tour based on my interests and food choices, and also offered me great suggestions on where to go in Rome during my stay. I recommend booking a tour with Giulia!

It's important to move beyond the obvious tourist opportunities in a given town and find some way to explore something that creates a more local connection with the place you are visiting. My wife, daughter and I had the pleasure of spending a few hours with Giulia, exploring street art in an area of Rome we would have otherwised missed. Her insight into the art and also the history of the neighborhood we visited was one of the highlights of our time in Rome. We highly recommend her tour.

Giulia took my mother and I on a walking tour of San Lorenzo, the birthplace of Roman graffiti and site of much interesting street art from small stencils to large murals. Giulia tailored the tour to our needs and I appreciated her attention to our particular interests. As a researcher I am especially interested in political and activist art and Giulia went out of her way to point out examples in the neighbourhood. Giulia is an excellent guide, super knowledgeable and passionate about street art, and very generous. She gave us many extra tips for our stay in Rome and further travels. Highly recommend booking a tour. You will see a different side of the city!

I had a great tour with my kids of Pigneto and San Lorenzo with Guilia. She was very kind and extremely knowledgeable about the art and artists. She tailored the tour to our interests and was quick to respond to questions leading up to the tour. She also offered other tips for our stay in Rome. 100% recommend her tours for anyone interested in Street Art or just a different side of Rome.
