I traveled from Stone Town by dala dala public bus and then motor cycle to go to the masingini forest expecting to pay $10 because that is the price shown on their official Facebook page, and many other pages all over the internet, but when I arrived they told me it cost $25 to enter. I refused to pay so much just to walk in the forest. The owners of the forest are deceiving their customers by advertising the incorrect price. Unless you want to pay a rip off, overpriced fee avoid this expensive stroll through the forest at all costs.

Out of all the experiences in Zanzibar, this one was my favourite. It was my first time zip-lining, and no better place to do it than in the land of your descendants. I was with my family, and we ran into the director whilst we were there. They shared what it took to bring this experience to life in Zanzibar and what their visions are going forward. Greatly appreciate them sharing their insights. The members of the team who took us through the forest were also so friendly and informative. One of my family members was imploring them to make it known that “this is the world’s LONGEST single span zip line in East Africa”. It was incredibly beautiful to see a part of Zanzibar from above, but walking through it was also curative. There are several trails, some of which are a little difficult, but the plants and animals will make you overlook this and propel you to challenge yourself. I would do it all over again. There were quite a few things under construction, e.g. restaurant, zip line end, etc., when I was there, so hopefully when I return, it’ll be good to see the new additions and enhancements. Please DO NOT build the viewpoint, I personally don’t think it’s necessary. From where we were standing, it was a sufficient view (less is more in this case).

My favorite place in Zanzibar to get away from the crowds and the noisy traffic. The area is very quiet, peaceful and gets very few visitors. It's a guided tour around a part of the forest. You'll learn about the history of the area, the plants that grow there and about the wildlife that live here. Do bring something to keep you hydrated.
