Half Day Wet Caving

Experience the thrill of wet caving on a half day guided adventure designed for those seeking a real underground challenge. This session takes place at Swildon’s Hole, one of the longest and most exciting cave systems in the Mendip Hills. Participants navigate narrow sections before entering expansive chambers filled with stunning stalactite formations and cascading waterfalls that must be climbed. The activity provides an authentic caving experience, far from indoor or 'Disney style' setups, pushing participants out of their comfort zone while offering an unforgettable sense of achievement. Each participant is fully equipped with a caving oversuit, helmet, light, caver’s belt, and Wellington boots if required, ensuring safety while allowing full freedom to explore the cave. The session is designed to be challenging yet accessible, giving adventurous cavers a taste of real underground exploration.

Group sizes are usually limited to nine participants per instructor, though larger groups can be accommodated with prior arrangement. Swildon’s Hole is recommended for children over twelve or for those with previous caving experience, as the manhole entrance drops into rushing water and may be intimidating for younger participants. Sessions run for three hours in the morning or afternoon, with evening options available by arrangement. This half day wet caving adventure combines physical challenge, teamwork, and exploration in a spectacular natural environment.
