Full Day Caving and Abseiling

Experience a full day of adventure with a combined caving and abseiling session designed for beginners and those seeking an exciting outdoor challenge. The day typically starts at Burrington Combe, where participants explore Goatchurch Cavern, an introductory cave suitable for both adults and children. The cave offers multiple route options ranging from gentle passages to more adventurous scrambles, allowing each participant to work at their own comfort level. After the morning caving session, participants enjoy lunch before heading to the abseiling activity at the same location. Burrington Combe provides beginner friendly abseiling routes suitable for all ages, making it ideal for first timers. The close proximity of facilities, including public toilets and the Burrington Inn, ensures a convenient and comfortable day for all participants. Alternative venues, such as Swildon’s Hole for advanced caving or Split Rock for a more challenging 25 metre abseil, are available for those with prior experience or seeking higher intensity challenges.

The session is suitable for groups of up to nine participants per instructor, with a maximum capacity of forty people when additional instructors are provided. Children under twelve may find steeper abseiling walls intimidating, so gentler options are recommended or climbing can be offered as an alternative to ensure everyone achieves success. Professional instructors provide guidance, safety equipment, and support throughout the day, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.
