Wieliczka Salt Mine is a mesmerizing journey into an underground world filled with history, art, and culture. As one of Poland’s most treasured landmarks, it offers visitors a unique glimpse into the lives of generations of miners. The mine is home to stunning chambers, intricate sculptures, and shimmering saline lakes that create a magical atmosphere. Guided tours led by licensed experts allow travelers to explore the artistry carved into the salt walls and learn about the hard work and dedication of those who shaped this remarkable place. The route winds through wide staircases with sturdy handrails, making the adventure safe yet exhilarating, while the descent into the depths of the mine feels like stepping into a hidden realm beneath the earth.

Visitors will be captivated by the combination of history, culture, and natural beauty at every turn. Each chamber tells a story, from ancient mining tools to elaborate salt bas-reliefs, creating a lasting impression of skill and devotion. At the end of the tour, a lift gently brings you back to the surface, leaving a sense of wonder and appreciation for the remarkable achievement of human hands and the treasures hidden below the ground.

Visiting from the UK. We tried buying our 9 tickets online originally, and it seemed to go through but then later received a notification that the payment was rejected. We called and they send it would probably work if we tried in person. We went to the ticket stall at the mine, using a different card from someone else in our group. The woman at the ticket stall was on the phone for ages now serving anyone. When we finally got to the front we paid for our tickets and it seemed to have gone through again. It then got declined again, same as when we tried buying them online with the other card. The woman asked if she could see the card. She then proceeds to pull out a massive pair of scissors and says she is going to cut the card in half. The owner of the card was very distressed, as this is his only card he has with him. He then asked to see the manager and demanded his card back, however there was no manager available. In the end we were unable to visit the mines and wasted time coming here, all due to shocking customer service.

An interesting place for visiting, totally one of a kind. You can choose guided tours in many languages. Everything is really well organized, there is a huge amount of parking spots around which is helpful cause it's located outside of Krakow.

Great tour, shame our English speaking tour guide had a strong foreign accent and pronounced many words incorrectly, therefore, it was very difficult to understand her. I feel it is important that she needs to learn how to correctly enunciate the English language so the paying guests are able to understand. (Many English speaking people thought the same as me). Otherwise, it was a beautiful place to visit.

Totally surprised by the salt mine tour, was really interesting. Only went because it was part of the Auschwitz tour that we booked but so delighted that we got to experience the salt mines.
