Discover The Ancient Traditions And Floating Islands Of Lake Titicaca On A Two Day Journey
Lake Titicaca stands as one of the highest navigable bodies of water in the entire world, straddling the rugged border between Peru and Bolivia. This vast expanse has served as a vital hub for human habitation for centuries, with the indigenous Uros people maintaining a unique way of life that dates back to pre-Columbian times. Travelers visiting this high-altitude region will find themselves immersed in a landscape defined by deep blue waters and ancient cultural heritage.
This comprehensive two-day tour provides a rare opportunity to venture deep into the heart of the lake to reach its most iconic islands. Participants will travel by boat across the shimmering surface, navigating the waters between the islands of Amantani and Taquile. These islands are renowned for their traditional weaving techniques and agricultural terraces, which have been meticulously maintained by local communities for generations, offering a window into a lifestyle that remains largely untouched by modern industrialization.
A central highlight of this immersive experience is the chance to spend an unforgettable night in a local family's homestay on Amantani Island. This arrangement allows visitors to step away from the typical tourist trail and engage directly with the residents, sharing meals and stories while learning about the daily rhythms of life on the water. It is a profound way to understand the resilience and hospitality of the people who call this high-altitude environment their permanent home.
As the journey concludes, guests will depart with a deeper appreciation for the complex history and natural beauty of the Andean highlands. The combination of boat travel, cultural exchange, and overnight stays creates a balanced itinerary that highlights the best of Lake Titicaca. Whether you are interested in ancient history, indigenous traditions, or simply the breathtaking vistas of the Altiplano, this excursion offers a meaningful connection to one of South America's most significant and storied natural landmarks.

Customer Reviews

We were very happy with our kayaking tour to the Uros, which was combined with a 2D/1N trip on the island where we had the opportunity to stay on Amantaní overnight. Informative guide and nice food at the home stay and on Taquile - a beautiful island.

Great experience, very well organised tour of the lake. Definitely recommended.

We travelled with the company from Puno to Copacabana. The lady selling the ticket was very nice, but the 'guide' on the bus incredibly rude. Didn't even let us open the curtain to see the supposedly scenic view we would have had all the way driving along the Titicaca lake. Very disappointed for a much higher price than other companies.
