On this full-day guided tour of Zanzibar, you will begin with a walking tour of Stone Town, the historic heart of Zanzibar City. Stroll through narrow winding streets lined with tall limestone buildings, and explore the markets, former palaces, and Sultan’s Palace. Stone Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site, reflecting a blend of Arab, Indian, Persian, and European influences. Your guide will share insights into the city’s rich cultural heritage and its past role in the slave trade. You will have the opportunity to shop in local markets and experience the vibrant atmosphere of this historic port city, gaining a deeper understanding of its unique history and architecture.
After exploring Stone Town, the tour continues with a visit to a spice farm, where you will learn why Zanzibar is known as the Spice Island. Walk through the plantation and see how spices like cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, and vanilla are grown and harvested. Smell, touch, and taste the fresh spices while your guide explains their cultivation and historical uses. The farm tour concludes with a traditional Swahili lunch, allowing you to savor the flavors of locally grown spices. In the afternoon, you will take a boat ride to Prison Island, home to giant Aldabra tortoises imported from Seychelles. Learn about the island’s history as a former prison for rebellious slaves and enjoy interacting with these magnificent creatures, some of which are over 200 years old. After visiting the island, you will return by boat to Stone Town and be dropped off at your hotel, completing a memorable day of history, culture, and natural beauty.

THE BEST FOOD IN ZANZIBAR! We saw a lot of spices, fruits and vegetables and ate them post the tour. 100% recommend to visit. Simply because after living in Zanzibar for 2 months. I was missing flavour so badly. Our Guide Asaa was amazing and knowledgeable. Best decision to travel 1.5 hours to visit. Love, Michael and Queen Bee!

We thoroughly enjoyed the spice tour at SISO Spice farm. We drove there ourselves and did not have a booking. We paid $10 per person and learnt so much from the extremely knowledgeable guide, Asaa. He showed us cardamom, ginger, all spice, pepper, cloves, turmeric, cinnamon, vanilla, lemongrass, curry leaves, coffee 'beans', cassava, pineapple, breadfruit and more. We were shown how to climb a coconut tree (and had an opportunity to try ourselves), received a coconut each to drink and eat, received some delicious teas to drink, and subsequently and an amazing lunch with cassava leaves, salty bananas, rice, chapatis, tuna and curry. The whole experience was beyond our expectations and we highly recommend this to other tourists. I think we were there for about 2 hours. P.S. There was an expectation to tip in addition to the entry fee.

AMAZING!!! One of my favorite places we went to in Zanzibar. We had the tour guide Ayaa and he was incredibly kind and informative. We paid $20 usd for the cooking class, lunch, and spice farm tour. This all took about 3 hours. I highly recommend the cooking class. We were able to chat with the people and learn so much. The food was absolutely incredible. We picked some leaves for it and then got to cooking. We had tuna, two types of vegetables, brown rice with fresh coconut milk, bananas, and curry. We also were given fresh coconuts twice to drink the water and eat. We also watched someone climb the coconut tree and they made us hats and flower earrings. We bought some spices to take home to continue to enjoy! I highly recommend this tour!!
