Embark on an enriching journey to Matemwe, a tranquil village on the northern coast of Zanzibar, where you’ll experience one of the island’s most untouched and authentic communities. Unlike many tourist hotspots, Matemwe remains a peaceful haven, largely unaffected by mass tourism. This tour provides a rare opportunity to witness traditional Zanzibari life as you engage with the friendly locals, learn about their daily routines, and gain insight into their livelihoods. It’s a perfect chance to connect with the island’s rich culture and history, far from the usual tourist paths.

During the tour, you will have the chance to meet local fishermen, farmers, and artisans, all of whom contribute to the vibrant culture of Matemwe. You’ll learn about their sustainable ways of living, from fishing techniques passed down through generations to the cultivation of local crops. It’s a fascinating look at the self-sufficient lifestyle that has sustained this village for centuries. As part of the experience, your visit also includes a donation to the local community, supporting the village's development projects and initiatives.

The day’s journey culminates in a delicious local lunch, prepared with fresh, organic ingredients grown right in the village. This traditional meal will give you a taste of Zanzibar’s flavors while you sit down with the community, sharing stories and enjoying the laid-back atmosphere of Matemwe. After a memorable day, you’ll leave with not only new knowledge about this beautiful part of Zanzibar but also a lasting connection to the people who call it home.

We had an amazing experience with Ali during our honeymoon in Zanzibar. From start to finish, he was kind, professional, knowledgeable and incredibly helpful, always making sure everything went smoothly. Ali and Mussa went above and beyond to make our trip easy, peaceful, and memorable. Thanks to them, we were able to truly relax and enjoy the beauty and friendliness of Zanzibar. We’re so grateful for all their efforts and would highly recommend Ali to anyone visiting the island. We hope to return again one day - J&N

Ali is the best at what he does- he catered everything for me as I was travelling with my four kids, very helpful, knowledgeable, honest, and he is so funny! His service was so rich in experience! Just ask for Ali at the beach- we covered jazani forest, snorkelling, dolphins, salaam cave and nakupenda- cannot thank him enough! You will not be disappointed!

Ali was our personal guide for the trip to Stone Town and the Spice Farm. He answered all our questions, was always friendly and speaks very good English. We never had the feeling that we were just "tourists" and he catered to our personal wishes. We would book a trip with him again at any time, it was 100% worth the price.

Such an amazing snorkelling and boat ride experience to Mnemba Island. We saw so many colourful fish, starfish and dolphins! The whole crew was super friendly and they prepared an amazing fruit platter for us. Thank you 🥰

When you visit Zanzibar, I suggest you go to the beach and ask for Ali. You can use the Hotel, but keep in mind they will charge you more than double and they will most probably use the same people on the beach to do the tour. Ali is very helpful and accommodating and will make sure you properly enjoy your tour. His English is fairly good, so communication won’t be an issue. All our tours with him were private. We did Snorkeling, The Sand Bank, Swimming with the turtles and Stone Town and it was 100% worth the money. I would highly recommend him.
