I stayed at Ibis Budget Sydney Airport for one night before an early morning flight. The property is fairly large, and the lobby is decent for a budget hotel. Staff service was average, and Accor member benefits are not applicable here due to the hotel category. The room was acceptable for a short stay, but I couldn’t sleep all night as the walls were very thin. I could hear footsteps, knocking, and doors opening and closing throughout the night. Given its positioning as an airport hotel, I was also expecting a complimentary shuttle. Instead, the transfer is AUD 12 per person and shared with other passengers. Overall, it works for convenience, but be prepared for noise and minimal amenities.
If the Hotel says Ibis BUDGET, don't expect the Sheraton or other 5-star hotel. Having said that, this hotel is clean and tidy and is really designed for the overnight traveller wanting an early flight the next morning. It is an easy 15 min walk to the domestic terminal, there is a regular shuttle at $12 pp, however we caught a cab for $15, to the door. There is a nice restaurant and bar right next door at the MANTRA, which does breakfast, lunch and dinner, and may have charge back facilities. Yes, the rooms and shower are small and there were a few cracks in tiles in our room, but overall, it is a very handy place to stay. Staff are friendly and helpful, and whilst the beds aren't large, they are very comfortable
There is budget, THEN THERE IS IBIS BUDGET. Stayed the night before we left for New Zealand and the night before returning home. We must have been given the oldest room available. A shoe box, bathroom, if you could call it that, was not great. Room needed maintenance, a thorough cleaning and updating. There is nowhere to put bags, only the bed or floor. Also the buttons on the lift were taped up on one side and it is also supposed to be an Accor Plus Benefits hotel. The staff said they didn't participate in those programs. REMOVE THE ADVERTISING FOR THOSE BENEFITS FROM YOUR RECEPTION COUNTER AS THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISING. My advice, if you like cramped, noisy, old tired hotels with not much room or service, by all means stay. However, I would suggest staying elsewhere. We will not be using this hotel again.
