Beautiful Chapel. Nice Christmas decorations.
I went to Chapel Royal primarily to visit and photograph the head of Brian Boru, a sculpture by Edward and John Smyth found outside the chapel's main door. I had seen this sculpture in photographs in books and online. It was a thrill to see it in the flesh, as it were, to walk up to it and photograph it. On the day I visited Dublin Castle, I really appreciated that one of the guards standing inside the castle courtyard was able to give me specific instructions about how to find the chapel and the Brian Boru sculpture as soon as I asked for assistance.
We visited the chapel while visiting the castle for the Christmas market. Although I expected it to be closed, it wasn't. The gothic architecture of the interior is magnificent and the huge Christmas tree with the nativity scene and carols was great to see. Highly recommended visit!
