Up to Grade three white water rafting on the River Findhorn offers an ideal experience for young families, school groups, first-timers, or anyone seeking a scenic journey with a splash of adventure. This section of the river, known as the Middle Findhorn, features stunning Scottish Highland landscapes, abundant wildlife, and a mix of calm stretches interspersed with exciting rapids such as Sleeping Whale, Dragons Tooth, and Carnage Corner. The best conditions are typically early to mid-spring or after recent rainfall, when the river is running at medium to high flows. ACE is the only rafting operator based directly at the River Findhorn, allowing participants to maximize their time on the water without long travel from other locations. The experience combines adventure with natural beauty, giving participants a true sense of Scotland’s last wild rivers.
Ace takes care to respect other river users and works alongside anglers enjoying the river for its serenity and for catching salmon, which are sometimes seen by the local otter population. Because the Findhorn is a wild river, water levels can change rapidly depending on rainfall or snowmelt, meaning some sections may not always be navigable. On days when water levels are too low for rafting, alternative options such as packrafting or River Tubes are offered to ensure a fun and safe experience. This flexibility, combined with the river’s beauty and excitement, makes the Middle Findhorn an excellent introduction to white water rafting for all ages.
