PADI Enriched Air Nitrox Course Extends Dive Time and Enhances Underwater Experience

The PADI Enriched Air Nitrox course is designed to teach certified divers how to safely use nitrox to increase bottom time and reduce nitrogen absorption during dives. The program is structured for flexibility, with the knowledge development portion completed online at the participant’s convenience, allowing divers to integrate training into busy schedules.

After completing the self-study component, participants meet with a PADI Instructor for practical training sessions. These include learning how to analyze oxygen content in a tank, properly complete enriched air log documentation, and configure dive computers for nitrox use. Optional open-water dives may also be included to reinforce these skills in real diving conditions.

The course is open to PADI Open Water Divers or equivalent certifications, with a minimum age requirement of 12 years. It typically requires a time commitment of one to two half-days, while the eLearning portion takes approximately two to four hours. Upon completion, divers are better prepared to plan safer and longer dives using enriched air.

Set against the backdrop of coastal dive environments such as Ponta da Piedade, participants may also encounter rich marine life, including octopus and vibrant reef ecosystems, while capturing underwater photographs. All essential training materials, equipment, and certification are included, although items such as dive computers, flashlights, and surface marker buoys must be brought separately. The program is designed to be accessible and flexible, with accommodations available upon request.
