This course is designed for anyone looking to become a certified PADI Open Water Diver. You will begin by learning the basic principles and terminology of scuba diving through online or offline study at your own pace. Once you have completed the theory, you will practice essential scuba skills in a pool or pool-like environment under the guidance of a highly trained PADI instructor. This practice allows you to become comfortable with the equipment and gain confidence before venturing into open water. When ready, you will make four dives in an open water setting, with your instructor providing support and guidance throughout the experience. During the dives, you will explore vibrant marine life, photograph stunning corals, and enjoy observing creatures like the local intelligent octopus at Ponta Da Piedade. This course ensures that your first diving experience is both safe and memorable.
The PADI Open Water Diver course requires a minimum age of 12 years, good swimming skills, and general physical fitness. The total time commitment is one full day plus two half days, with maximum dive depths up to 18 meters or 60 feet. Participants are required to complete a medical form before the activity, and certain health conditions may require clearance from a physician. All necessary equipment is included, such as diving suit, regulator, BCD, mask, fins, boots, manuals, and certification upon completion. Items not included are a dive computer, flashlight, and SMB. It is recommended to bring swimming wear and a towel, and participants should review the medical requirements in advance. This course is ideal for those seeking an enjoyable and structured introduction to scuba diving, combining learning, skill-building, and breathtaking underwater exploration.
