Kemah Aquarium Sea Detectives Camp Blends Learning, Adventure, and Conservation

The Kemah Aquarium is offering a unique summer program that transforms children into “Sea Detectives” for an immersive week-long educational adventure. The camp is designed to combine storytelling, hands-on exploration, and interactive learning as participants work together to solve the mystery of the vanishing kelp forest.

Throughout the week, campers take part in up-close animal encounters, themed role play, scavenger hunts, science experiments, and creative arts and crafts. Each day introduces new concepts related to marine ecosystems, rainforest habitats, and environmental science, helping children understand ecological balance in an engaging and age-appropriate way.

The program also includes guided tours, behind-the-scenes experiences, daily animal feedings, and recreational rides on the scenic Kemah Boardwalk. Educational focus areas span predator-prey relationships, coral reef restoration, species roles in ecosystems, and rainforest conservation, encouraging teamwork, curiosity, and environmental responsibility.

Supervised by trained educators in a safe environment with low camper-to-counselor ratios, the camp prioritizes inclusivity, accessibility, and health considerations for all participants. Each child receives a Sea Safari Camp T-shirt and concludes the program with a celebration of achievements and conservation pledges.
