Home School Day

The Kemah Aquarium is excited to welcome homeschooled students and their families for an engaging and educational day of discovery. During Home School Day, participants will explore Stingray Reef and the Aquarium exhibits while learning about aquatic species and their ecosystems. Children can enjoy Keeper Chats, scavenger hunts, and a Conservation Station, all designed to spark curiosity and promote hands-on learning. For those seeking a deeper experience, the Marine Biologist for a Day program offers an extended day of exploration, including behind-the-scenes tours, animal encounters, squid dissections, water testing, and guided activities that highlight the fascinating world of marine science. Families can combine fun and learning with a visit to the Kemah Boardwalk, creating a full day of interactive adventure. This special event encourages children to develop observation, scientific inquiry, and critical thinking skills while engaging with live animals and conservation topics. Participants will gain a firsthand understanding of marine biology, animal care, and ecosystem management through experiential learning. Adults may optionally join their children for an additional fee, enjoying access to all program activities and exhibits. The event provides a safe, supervised, and structured environment where children and families can explore together, fostering curiosity, creativity, and a love for the natural world. The day concludes with fun activities on the Boardwalk, crafts, live music, and an emphasis on conservation awareness, leaving participants inspired and informed.
