Photography, like any skilled profession, requires both structured learning and consistent practice. At Washington Photo Safari, participants are introduced to the principles of camera operation, lens use, and composition through hands-on instruction, allowing them to apply techniques immediately while taking photographs. The program emphasizes versatility, training students to handle a wide range of photographic scenarios including nature, architecture, landscapes, portraits, sports, and events. Over a six-month period, participants attend twelve half-day safaris, either in-person or virtually, with guidance from experienced instructors led by Paris-trained E. David Luria. The course combines theory, practical exercises, and ongoing practice assignments to ensure participants develop proficiency in various photography styles while receiving direct feedback to refine their skills.

In addition to skill development, the course provides numerous resources and benefits for students. Each participant receives a 130-page photography guide, ongoing access to Mr. Luria for advice, and a portfolio review at the end of the program. Successful graduates are awarded a “WPS Certified Photographer” certificate, a luggage tag, and discounts on future safaris. The program also supports smartphone users while focusing primarily on DSLR and mirrorless cameras to maximize learning potential. Testimonials from past participants highlight the program’s ability to enhance both technical and creative photography skills, emphasizing that consistent practice, combined with expert instruction, is the key to becoming a competent and versatile photographer.
