Springtime in Washington DC brings the magical bloom of cherry blossoms, and one of the most picturesque locations to capture their beauty is along the Tidal Basin. On this photography safari, participants will slowly stroll along the scenic path toward the Jefferson Memorial, guided by professional architectural photographer E. David Luria. Along the way, you will enjoy stunning views of iconic landmarks, including the Washington Monument, FDR Memorial, and MLK Jr. Memorial, all framed by the delicate blossoms. Participants will also discover a secret cherry tree known as “Our Lady of the Blossoms” and have the opportunity to photograph the George Mason Memorial near the Jefferson Memorial. This safari is designed to teach the principles of travel photography, camera use, and creative composition, while allowing ample time for capturing portraits and scenic shots in natural sunlight. Non-photographer friends and spouses are welcome to join at no additional charge, creating a fun and educational outing for all. Throughout the safari, Mr. Luria will provide hands-on guidance on camera techniques, including lens selection, use of filters, exposure settings, and how to capture the perfect blossom portraits. Participants will also learn how to adjust for lighting, framing, and composition while navigating the beautiful Tidal Basin paths. While the bloom period is determined by nature and cannot be guaranteed, every participant will receive practical travel photography tips and the opportunity to photograph scenic views that are always stunning. Proper planning, weather-appropriate clothing, and fully charged camera equipment will ensure a productive and enjoyable photography experience during this springtime adventure.
