Photo Critiques: In-Person or Virually!

Washington Photo Safari offers personalized photo critique sessions designed to help photographers improve their composition and technique. Participants can choose to have their images reviewed in-person, over Zoom, or by phone, allowing flexibility for every preference. During the session, the instructor, Washington Photo Safari Director E. David Luria, examines the 10 best photographs submitted by the participant and provides detailed guidance on how each image can be enhanced. After the critique, participants receive a follow-up email including a general critique and Washington Photo Safari’s guide “Composition: The Essence of Good Photography,” offering practical tips for future improvement. The process is simple: submit your images via the free file transfer service WeTransfer, schedule a date and time for your critique, and receive expert feedback tailored to your skill level and camera type.

David Luria brings decades of experience and international training to his teaching, having studied in Paris at the Parsons School of Design under a protégé of Henri Cartier-Bresson. He is a member of multiple professional photography organizations, and his work has appeared in over 100 publications, calendars, and postcards. As founder and director of Washington Photo Safari, he has trained more than 38,000 amateur photographers from around the world.
