Helicopter Tour Delivers Exclusive Glacier Landing Experience in Alaska

A new helicopter excursion in Alaska is offering travelers a rare opportunity to land directly on glacial ice, far from crowded viewing areas and outside designated park zones. Unlike fixed-wing ski aircraft that depend on snow conditions, the helicopter is able to touch down safely on solid glacier surfaces, opening access to remote and untouched icy terrain.

Once on the glacier, guests are invited to explore a striking natural environment shaped by centuries of ice movement. Visitors can walk across glacial moraine, observe deep crevasses, and view kettle ponds carved into the ice. The surrounding landscape features dramatic granite spires and steep vertical relief, creating a visually powerful setting ideal for photography and nature observation.

The experience includes approximately 50 minutes of total flight time, with around 15 to 20 minutes spent on the Yanert Glacier itself. A six-passenger A-Star 350 helicopter is used for the tour, equipped with individual headsets that allow real-time communication with the pilot, who provides commentary throughout the journey and shares insights about the terrain below.
