SSI Dry Suit Diving Specialty Expands Access to Cold-Water Exploration

Dry suit diving offers divers the ability to explore cold-water environments that are often inaccessible with traditional wetsuits, including remote Arctic regions and other frigid dive sites rich in unique marine life. By maintaining thermal insulation and comfort, dry suits allow for longer bottom times and more enjoyable multi-dive days without repeated exposure to cold water.

This increased comfort also enables divers to experience a wider range of underwater environments, from deep cold lakes to polar seas, where visibility and ecosystems differ significantly from tropical waters. The SSI Dry Suit Diving specialty program is designed to introduce divers to the proper use and handling of dry suit equipment. Training covers essential topics such as buoyancy control adjustments, equipment management, and procedures for handling dry suit-specific emergency situations.

Upon completion, divers earn the SSI Dry Suit Diving specialty certification, equipping them with the confidence and competence needed to safely dive in cold-water conditions and significantly expand their global diving opportunities.
