Discover the magic of the Car Wash cenote, also known as Aktun-Ha, on an unforgettable dive experience just outside Tulum. This unique cenote is teeming with life, surrounded by rich flora and fauna. Picture yourself floating among delicate water lilies as you spot turtles and even the occasional small crocodile in their natural habitat. Your entry into this underwater world is remarkably easy, with the water level just inches below the ground, inviting you into its comfortable 78°F embrace to a depth of 50 feet. Your adventure offers the unique opportunity to experience both upstream and downstream dives. The popular upstream route is a visual spectacle, leading you through a submerged path of roots and fallen trees where fascinating light penetrates from above. You'll navigate past large, chestnut-colored columns and an impressive display of speleothems like stalactites and stalagmites. If you look closely, you may even spot ancient pottery and fossils. During summer months, an algae cloud from decomposing plants may form at the surface, but the water clears beautifully as you descend to reveal the amazing views below. Your safety and a quality experience are our top priorities. Because this cenote is used for cavern and cave diving training, there is no permanent guideline; your expert English-speaking guide will place and remove one specifically for your dive. We ensure a personalized tour by limiting groups to a maximum of four divers per instructor. This 9-hour excursion is for certified Open Water divers (or higher) aged 10 and up and includes all scuba equipment, tanks, lamps, flashlights, bottled water, breakfast, and lunch. Your day begins with a 6:00 AM pickup at our facility, and we provide convenient drop-off at your hotel within the Cancun hotel zone after your dive.

Beautiful cenote on the road connecting Tulum to Coba, it is a delightful area perfect both for diving due to the presence of underwater caves, or simply for bathing and snorkeling. The price is cheap, 300 Mexican pesos plus 20 pesos for the locker, but the spot is so mesmerizing, with clear water and plenty of wildlife (sea turtles, herons, fish). Calm and peaceful, highly recommended on a week day when it is not crowded!

We visited Aktun Ha aka the Car Wash cenote today. Unfortunately, the water wasn’t very clear. We snorkeled around the cenote’s perimeter, which had the best views, but still only saw a few fish. There were some turtles resting outside the water near the far end of the cenote, but we never saw any while snorkeling. There are two jumping platforms and a few areas to sit or place your things. Overall, we felt the cenote was on the smaller side, probably handling 30-40 people comfortably. We also have been living in Mexico for a year and a half, and we have residency cards. There are discounts for Mexican residents, Yucatecan locals, etc. My husband didn’t see the pricing board as he was buying tickets. The transaction wasn’t complete when I mentioned the discounts. Since the employee had already put the band on him, she said it was too late. Again, the transaction wasn’t complete. We gave cash but hadn’t received change back. She did process my entry as a resident. But, those types of incidents are just a little frustrating. Wish it hd been a better experience for us.

Love ! We were lucky to be one of very few people there (besides the divers, yes, this cenote is used as training for divers, it has access to a large cave system underneath). We had both rain and sun during the hour we spent there and it was equally wonderful. The water is crystal-clear and we loved it!

Great swimming hole with a platform about 10 feet high to jump off of. Showers, bathrooms, lockers and life vests if you need them. Kind of low key and not to crowded. We practically had the place to ourselves.

THIS WAS STUNNING!!! Only 80pesos per person to get in, and no nickel and dining after that! Despite not looking like the drop-down cave style of the other cenotes, this was our favorite. Lovely people and beautiful cenote. Bring your mask and snorkel, and waterproof camera for some of the best pictures you'll ever take. The crystal clear water, colorful fish, perfect natural surrounds, and fun jumping platforms, and few crowds make this a perfect instagrammable cenote! Make sure to NOT wear sunscreen, and shower off before entering to protect this beautiful natural cenote.
