Shotgun Fundamentals is a beginner-level course designed to help new and returning shooters build confidence and proficiency with a shotgun. This 2.5-hour class is ideal for anyone curious about firearms or looking to refresh their skills after time away. The course is evenly split between classroom instruction and live range time, ensuring students gain both a strong understanding of theory and hands-on shooting experience. Classroom topics include firearm and range safety rules, shotgun anatomy with a focus on pump versus semi-automatic platforms, and core shooting fundamentals.
During the range portion, experienced instructors guide students through practical exercises that emphasize proper stance, grip, sight alignment, breathing, and trigger control. Participants will also learn grouping and zeroing techniques, as well as the differences between iron and bead sights, optics, and accessories. Targets and professional instruction are included, while students are expected to bring a cased and unloaded shotgun, appropriate ammunition, and personal safety equipment. Designed for beginners aged 18 and older, Shotgun Fundamentals provides a supportive and structured environment to develop safe, effective shooting skills and build a solid foundation for future training.
