Guests now have the special opportunity to meet Soman, a male Greater One-horned Rhino, also known as the Indian Rhino. This approximately 20-minute session allows a limited number of participants to feed Soman some of his favorite treats and spend time with one of his keepers alongside his habitat. During the encounter, guests will learn about how the zoo cares for rhinos, gain a closer look at the unique armor-plated appearance that this species is known for, and enjoy a memorable photo opportunity. Greater One-horned Rhinos are listed as vulnerable due to the threat of extinction, but conservation efforts have helped the species recover from fewer than 200 in the past century to around 4,000 in the wild today. This experience offers an educational and up-close look at one of the planet’s most iconic animals while supporting awareness and conservation.
Encounters are offered daily beginning Friday, May 5, at 3 p.m., weather permitting. The cost is $50 per person and space is limited to 10 participants, ensuring a personalized experience. Guests must be at least eight years old to participate, and children between the ages of eight and twelve must be accompanied by a paying adult. Please note that zoo admission is not included, and an admission ticket is required to enter the zoo and join the encounter. This is a unique opportunity for families and wildlife enthusiasts to connect with a remarkable species while learning about its protection and care.
