A unique wildlife experience is now allowing visitors to go behind the scenes at Kiboko River Station for an up-close encounter with Nile hippos. The program is designed to provide an educational and immersive introduction to one of Africa’s most powerful and fascinating mammals.
During the guided session, animal care specialists introduce guests to the hippos while explaining their daily care routines, feeding habits, behavior, and training. Visitors also gain insight into ongoing conservation efforts aimed at protecting hippo populations in the wild.
The highlight of the experience is a supervised feeding opportunity, where guests can safely interact with the animals under strict guidance from trained staff. The encounter offers a rare chance to observe the size, strength, and personality of hippos at close range.
Each session lasts approximately 20 minutes and takes place once daily at 12 PM, with advance reservations strongly recommended due to limited capacity. Zoo admission is required separately, and participation is limited to guests aged six and above, with children required to be accompanied by an adult.
