The Moab Brands area, also known as Bar-M, is an ideal destination for families and riders of all skill levels. With over thirty miles of intersecting singletrack, the area offers everything from flat, easy trails suitable for children and towing toddlers to intermediate and challenging black diamond trails for advanced riders. Scenic views of Arches and Moab Canyon add to the experience, and riders can enjoy an easy pedal back to town along the paved Moab Bike Path. The area is equipped with amenities such as pit toilets, a bike work stand with tools, and decent cell reception near the bathrooms. Beginner riders can start with trails like Bar M Loop, Chuck Wagon, Rusty Spur, and Pipeline, while intermediate and advanced riders can explore trails such as North 40, Circle-0, Rockin' A, and Bar-B Loop. Expert riders seeking a technical challenge can try Deadman’s, Long Branch, or Killer-B.
Riders should come prepared for the desert environment, which can be extremely hot and dry. It is recommended to carry at least 100 oz. of water per rider along with ample food and snacks. Bringing a headlamp, extra warm layers, and keeping your bike in excellent condition is essential, as Moab’s trails can be tough on equipment. Extra tubes, pumps, tire patch kits, spare cables, and multi-tools are highly advised, along with a windbreaker or waterproof jacket, sunglasses, sunscreen, a fire starter, a first aid kit, and a cell phone. All riders are encouraged to practice Leave No Trace principles. While the trails are family-friendly, intermediate and advanced options are available, and e-bikes are not allowed. The ride concludes with a six-mile paved return to town, which is mostly downhill, so allow an extra 45 minutes for the return. Riders should be ready to board 15 minutes prior to departure time.
