Climbers looking to move beyond toproping—or those who have led indoors but understand that outdoor leading is very different—will gain valuable skills in this sport leading class. The course covers how to clip bolts efficiently, give a dependable lead belay, select the right equipment, manage safety systems, and clean routes by either lowering or rappelling. Participants also learn clear communication, risk-awareness strategies, and the etiquette needed to be a responsible outdoor climber.

Before joining, participants should feel comfortable managing basic outdoor self-care, putting on a harness, shoes, and helmet without assistance, and toprope belaying with a tube-style belay device. While indoor lead experience can be helpful, it isn’t required; additional days may be recommended for anyone who needs more time to build foundational skills.
