pretty awesome spot so close to town, for whatever outdoor rec you want to get into. dispersed camping, bike trails, hiking, rock climbing, atv’s, etc. there’s a maze of dirt roads, so just be mindful it becomes 4x4 or high clearance in some spots. beautiful views all around. Joshua Tree vibes. pit toilets available at entrance. 3 bars at&t.

Awesome place , just passing through and stopped to check it out and ended up staying a week... Great bike trails, great hiking on the same trails .... Walked my dog around but I didn't trust people to have their dogs on leashes so I avoided peoples campground areas.

What an awesome place to camp! BLM land located south of Gunnison with designated sites to camp for free. We stayed 3 nights here and had an awesome time, great change of pace from high elevations forests we’ve been camping at the last few weeks. If you’re looking for a good place to stargaze this is a good one, limited light pollution from town and a horizon to horizon view of the sky. There are two entrances here if you’re looking to camp, one just south of the airport (the location on this map and one further west down 50. Great spot for trail running, hiking, mountain biking, pump track, dirt biking, OHV trails, rock climbing etc. you name it this is a cool spot to do it! Easy access to the gunni river for fishing and blue Mesa reservoir is 15 miles west of you want to go swimming. 10/10
