This eight-hour program provides an in-depth exploration of avalanche rescue techniques, focusing on practical skills that can save lives in the backcountry. Participants will learn best practices for companion rescue, including efficient search strategies, probe line techniques, and organized approaches to locating and digging out buried victims. The course emphasizes real-world application, preparing students to respond effectively under pressure and in challenging conditions.
In addition to companion rescue, the curriculum addresses more complex scenarios such as multiple burials and considerations for evacuation. Participants will gain hands-on experience with rescue tools and strategies, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of avalanche response. Depending on instructor availability, the course follows either the AIARE curriculum or a AAA-approved program, both designed to provide the highest standard of avalanche education.
