The two-day freediving course in Jervis Bay offers a comprehensive introduction to the sport, combining physical skills with mental training. Freediving is the practice of holding one’s breath and diving below the surface, an ancient technique used by indigenous cultures for food gathering and recreation. Modern freediving allows participants to connect with nature, improve focus, and gain a deeper understanding of mind and body control. The course follows the Molchanovs System, providing structured education designed by champion divers. Participants will learn to perform static breath holds, dynamic dives, free immersion, and constant weight dives, as well as simulated rescue techniques. No prior experience is required, and the training emphasizes safety, personal growth, and enjoyment over achieving specific performance goals. The course also highlights the spiritual and health benefits of freediving, offering a unique opportunity to explore both the ocean and inner awareness.
The program includes classroom theory, pool sessions, and open water training. Day one covers theory and confined water skills at Woebegone HQ and the Bay & Basin Leisure Centre, including lunch provided onsite. Day two takes place at the Woollamia Boat Ramp for open water sessions. Participants are advised to bring warm clothing, swimmers, wetsuits, dive equipment, towel, water, and a positive attitude. Preparations such as rest, light meals, and avoiding alcohol or dairy are recommended. Medical and liability forms must be completed in advance to ensure safety. The course fosters skill development, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for freediving in the pristine waters of Jervis Bay.
