The Advanced Open Water Diver course is designed to build upon foundational scuba training by focusing on real-world diving experience and skill enhancement. Unlike entry-level certification programs, this course places greater emphasis on hands-on exploration rather than classroom exams, allowing divers to grow confidence through guided underwater practice.
Participants complete five open water dives under the supervision of a PADI Instructor, including core training dives and three specialty dives. These specialty experiences introduce divers to different underwater disciplines such as deep diving, night diving, underwater photography, wreck exploration, and other exciting environments that help broaden their diving abilities and interests.
Key skills developed during the course include underwater navigation using a compass, improved buoyancy control, and safe diving techniques beyond 18 meters. Each dive is structured to strengthen comfort and control underwater while exposing divers to more challenging and rewarding environments.
Upon completion, divers earn an advanced certification that opens the door to more complex diving opportunities and specialty programs, including the possibility of combining training with the PADI Enriched Air Diver course for additional certification. Suitable for certified Open Water Divers aged 12 and above who are medically fit and comfortable in the water, this course is ideal for those seeking to expand their underwater experience with greater confidence, safety, and adventure.
