The Open Water Course introduces you to the essential skills and knowledge needed to explore the underwater world with confidence. Over three structured training days, you will complete classroom learning, confined water practice, and four open water dives in the stunning lagoon and outer reef of Lord Howe Island. Small group instruction ensures you receive close guidance, more practice time, and personal feedback from your instructor, making it an ideal environment for beginners. The flexible schedule allows the course to be arranged around your stay, while online theory is completed in advance through the PADI eLearning platform.
This certification allows you to dive worldwide to a maximum depth of 18 metres, with depth restrictions applying to students aged 10 to 14. Participants must be able to swim 200 metres and complete a Diver Medical Questionnaire before starting the course, with some students requiring medical clearance depending on their health history. Due to the island’s remote location, it is strongly recommended to complete a full dive medical before arrival. Students with a history of asthma must complete a bronchial provocation test prior to travel, as this test cannot be conducted on the island.
