With the PADI Advanced Open Water Certificate, you gain the knowledge and confidence to dive deeper, stay longer, and advance your skills beyond the basics learned in the Open Water program. This two-day course is designed to shape you into a more capable, confident, and aware diver while introducing you to a wide range of specialty diving experiences. With a total of five adventure dives, at least three done from boats in the beautiful waters of Jervis Bay, you’ll build real underwater experience guided by instructors with diverse professional backgrounds.
Throughout the program, you’ll be equipped with essential tools of an advanced diver, including a compass for navigation, a DSMB and reel for safe ascents, a torch for exploring dark spaces or night diving, and a cutting tool for dealing with hazards like fishing line. The course integrates PADI eLearning with classroom support and in-water practice to give you a complete understanding of advanced diving techniques. After booking, you’ll receive a confirmation email with all details, though the course will only proceed once minimum numbers are met.

I had an absolutely fantastic weekend doing my orientation dive (and fun dives) with Ocean Divers at Killary Fjord! From the moment I arrived every member of staff and all the other divers were incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was supportive and relaxed, making it easy to feel comfortable even if you’re just starting out like me (10 dives previously). There were a lot of divers, but each in small groups with their own dive master or dive instructor and grouped together in the OW/AOW courses or fun dives. While I had already done my OW elsewhere, I’ll definitely be doing the advanced course and further dives with these guys as the level of dedication and commitment that goes into making their students be successful divers is visible. Bring a bit of patience for the initial response period if you reach out during a very busy time - it‘s hard to respond when you’re always in the water 😄 but I honestly can’t recommend them enough if you’re looking to become a good diver and explore Irelands underwater world with a genuinely lovely group of people.

I’m doing the drysuit diver course with Oceandivers at the moment. I was having trouble getting my buoyancy right, so had six pool sessions to get it right at no extra charge!! What a crew Oceandivers have. There was no pressure, just take your time and get it right. Dan is always on hand to help you out and the rest of the lads are so helpful. I had my first sea dive for the buoyancy certification today off Dalkey island. It was fantastic!! The extra lessons really paid off. I cannot recommend the Oceandivers crew highly enough. It is and has been a pleasure working with Oceandivers to get my drysuit certification. Can’t wait to get back in the water with the crew!!

Did my Open Water course with Ocean Divers and couldn’t have asked for a better experience – especially on the trip out to Killary Harbour. Alan and Dan are absolute legends. They keep things calm, clear, and enjoyable from start to finish, and they’ve got a brilliant way of building your confidence without overcomplicating anything. Killary was a cracking spot to dive, and the lads made sure everyone got the most out of it, no matter their level. The whole vibe was relaxed but totally professional – you always felt in safe hands. Already looking forward to coming back for my Advanced course.
