Connemara, stretching from Galway Bay in the south to Killary Harbour in the north, is a region defined by its dramatic natural beauty, with rugged mountains like the Twelve Bens, peaceful lakes such as Lough Corrib, and the wild, sweeping Inagh Valley. Known for its pure white sandy beaches along the Atlantic Ocean, Connemara offers a visual feast of landscapes. The tour begins at daily from outside Kinlay Hostel on Merchants Road, Galway, with a local driver/guide leading the journey out of the city through the historic fishing village of the Claddagh and onto Salthill, home to the Prom and Blackrock diving tower. Passing landmarks like the Spanish Arch and the River Corrib, the route showcases Galway’s rich history and culture, including the famous Claddagh Ring. The 4km Salthill Promenade offers views of Galway Bay and the Clare Hills, with a local tradition of kicking the wall at the end of the walk.

Continuing west along the Wild Atlantic Way, the route hugs Galway Bay through the charming villages of Barna, Furbo, and the Gaeltacht village of Spiddal, where Irish language and culture are vibrantly preserved. The road winds into the heart of Connemara, unveiling a landscape of boglands, lakes, and mountains that begin to rise on the horizon. A photo stop at Screeb waterfall captures Connemara’s savage beauty, as described by Oscar Wilde. The journey passes through Maam Cross, a lively farming hub known for its livestock sales and pony fairs, before reaching Derryclare Lough at the entrance to the Inagh Valley. With the Twelve Bens mountain range as a backdrop, this lake is both a haven for anglers and a stunning photo opportunity, perfectly encapsulating the wild, untouched essence of Connemara.

Amazing tour, with an absolute joy and incredible guide: Alan!!! Beautiful sites and attractions all along the way and the clifs are breathtaking! We also visited Hazel Mountain Chocolate Factory because we went in winter and not all usual places were doable - it was incredible! A beautiful experience overall, much recommend! 🇮🇪🍀

We had a fantastic tour along the Wild Atlantic Way, and our guide Pavel made the experience truly exceptional. Everything was very well organized, and he made sure everyone felt comfortable throughout the trip. The photo stops were perfectly timed, and we got to capture some amazing views. Pavel also shared interesting stories and fun facts, which made the journey both informative and entertaining. A great guide with lots of enthusiasm and passion for what he does. Would definitely recommend this tour

Fabulous day trip- well worth the money even in the off season! Our guide, Alan was amazing- equal parts informative and funny! I appreciate that he touched on the heavier side of the history of Ireland, but without going into too much detail (though with excellent book/doco/nerflix recommendations for furthering our knowledge) as well as interesting geographical information which brought the tour to life. Thanks!

Overall an excellent tour. Paul our driver/guide was great. Very informative and provided lots of history. The bus was big so it wasn’t a small tour group but it worked out fine. People did a great job of adhering to the schedule. The place for lunch in Dooly was also quite good. We both had the chowder and it was excellent. I would definitely use Wild Atlantic Way Tours for additional excursions. The only issue on this tour is that at the Cliffs of Moher, both the north and south trails were blocked quite a ways before the end due to safety wind concerns so we missed getting better views from the southern cliffs looking north. However there was nothing that our tour company could have done about that. Over A+ rating

We joined the Wild Atlantic Way tour from Galway to Inisheer (Inis Oírr) and the Cliffs of Moher, and it was absolutely fantastic. Our guide, Alan, was knowledgeable, friendly, and full of interesting insights throughout the day. The mini-bus tour on Inisheer was wonderful, we got to see so much of the island, and the seafood chowder at the local pub was delicious. I also couldn’t resist buying a beautiful cardigan made on the island, a perfect keepsake from the day. The Cliffs of Moher were truly breathtaking, no photo can capture their sheer beauty. This tour far exceeded our expectations and was a highlight of our trip. Highly recommend!
