Set off on a journey to the enchanting island of Inishbofin, a hidden gem off Ireland’s west coast. Begin your adventure by boarding the ferry at the quaint fishing village of Cleggan, sailing through the stunning seascapes of the Wild Atlantic Way. Breathe in the fresh ocean air and take in the rugged coastline as you approach this historic island.
Upon arrival, take a short stroll to a welcoming island hotel, where you will be served a delicious homemade soup and sandwiches. While you dine, watch a short yet insightful documentary about Inishbofin’s fascinating history, rich heritage, and unique geology.
With a map in hand, set off on a self-guided walk along the breathtaking Westquarter Loop, one of the island’s most scenic routes. As you traverse the dramatic landscapes, enjoy sweeping views of the Atlantic, ancient ruins, and diverse wildlife. Inishbofin is a paradise for bird watchers, and if you're lucky, you may hear the distinctive call of the rare corncrake, a bird that returns to the island each year.
After an invigorating walk, return to the hotel to relax with a freshly brewed cup of tea or coffee and a homemade scone. Soak in the peaceful island atmosphere before boarding the ferry for your return journey to the mainland, carrying with you unforgettable memories of Inishbofin’s charm and beauty.

beautiful. splendid. no words for it. just go there on a sunny day and go to the beach

A hidden gem of the Irish Coast... There is nothing 'spectacular' there, except white sandy beaches, blue water, quiet peace of all day walking or a long session of book reading on the beach, good food, Irish music in a pub and great people, both locals and visitors... All of this makes this small island a heaven, a place to be if one needs the mind and soul reset.

Great place to visit peace and quiet nice pubs good food fresh air.

If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of your weekly life, then a trip here is the answer. Only cars allowed on the island are belonging to the islanders and they are few. There are a couple of hotels and bars on the island, one small shop and a wonderful cafe on the east side. All you can really do is get out and enjoy the walks, scenery and peace, lots of peace. Oh, and you can sit on the beach as well. So book the ferry and park your car in Cleggan and reclaim your life.

A fantastic visit, particularly great for those looking for a full day out. There are a handful of walking routes around the island of varying terrain and difficulty, so it is suitable for many. The coastal scenery all over is beautiful, and there is plenty of opportunity to spot all kinds of wildlife/animals. You get a real sense of community on this island, you can tell that it is treasured by the locals. Toilets are available in the community centre at the island's front upon arrival by boat. There is also a gift shop/tourist info centre in the same building. Quite a few of the eateries are seasonal, so be sure to check in advance.
