Saving Sydney’s last little penguins is a vital mission, and this engaging talk invites you to learn all about the only remaining mainland colony in New South Wales. Sydney locals are fortunate to share their coastline with these charming seabirds, yet the Manly colony now consists of just 12–13 breeding pairs, making them incredibly vulnerable. During this session, you’ll explore the challenges they face—ranging from habitat loss and boat strikes to pollution and predation—while gaining a deeper understanding of their behaviour, breeding habits, and unique characteristics that make them so special.

Led by a Discovery Ranger and Guide from the National Parks and Wildlife Service, who work closely with dedicated “penguin wardens,” this talk offers fascinating insights into the colony’s daily life and the efforts behind their protection. You’ll also learn how simple community actions—such as keeping pets leashed, reducing waste, and respecting nesting areas—can make a meaningful difference. Meet at the Q Station Wharf near Quarantine Beach and discover how you can help safeguard these remarkable little penguins for generations to come.

I could not recommend the team in little Penguins enough. You have made the first years of my daughter’s education a pleasure and a joy to the whole family. We were heart broken leaving you this year but the fantastic memories will last us a lifetime. John Brid Ashling and team exceptional ❤️❤️❤️

My daughter loved Little Penguins and left to start Primary school. She settled in so well from day 1 with Aisling's help and made loads of friends. She loved playing outdoors which is a great area when you consider its upstairs. The teachers were so good and the activities were so varied and fun. Some of her teachers changed while she was there but all were so good and took great care of her which shows the standard they expect. Would definitely recommend.

Two of my children attended Little Penguins over a period of 3 years. This is not your average playschool. The care and love they were shown was amazing. They both grew in confidence so much. The teachers are incredible. The manager Aisling runs the ship brilliantly. Both kids now are regular visitors to the playschool to say hello even though they are finished!

My son absolutely loved Little Penguins in Knocklyon. The staff are all such great teachers, extremely friendly and helped him settle in so well. He became such a confident little boy during his time, learning lots and making loads of friends. They make everyone feel like part of the family and he wanted to stay there forever playing in their wonderful outdoor space. Thank you Little Penguins for helping him grow.
