Absolutely amazing from beginning to end. The shop is lovely, such an intimate space to enjoy all that is to offer during the tasting. Antonio is extremely knowledgeable and shared loads of information on the wines we were sampling and the areas in Italy where they come from. Each wine was marvellous and the food that they were paired with was ever so delicious. Don't hesitate and book this experience, it's worth every bit!
Our wine tasting was wonderfully paired with delicious food as well. The tasting in general was a wonderful evening well spent, learning, drinking and mingling with the owners. We brought our 3 small children along and they were very welcomed. They were able to eat and try the foods as well as be apart of the conversation. I would highly recommend and would do this wine tour all over again!

Bravissimo! Would highly recommend booking the wine tasting with the Antonio’s at Enoteca Fuori Dal Comune. The 4 wines we tasted were balanced, delicate and all very enjoyable. The food to accompany was very tasty and paired perfectly, you will not leave hungry! It was very informative to learn about the origin of the wines to include the grapes, terrain etc. Fantastic value for money, very personal intimate tasting. Grazie mille Antonio è Antonio!!!
Great place for a 1.5 hour or so wine tasting experience. They bring you different wines and different light bites and charcuterie to eat while tasting. The tables sit 6-8 people so we made new friends and enjoyed lively conversation, delicious wine and tasty food. Great thing to do on a rainy day or when you are tired of sight seeing. We will go back for sure.
We were in the Lake Como area and one of the people in our group of 7 arranged a fun, informative, and entertaining activity at Capitan Drake. The entire time frame for the event was between 90-120 minutes. We arrived and were greeted by a young lady named Sandu. She spoke fluent Italian and English. She had the table set up for our party of 7, and had us captivated with her knowledge of wines and delivery. I know it definitely takes a special person to get in front of people you do not know, have the ability to stay on task and message, take adhoc questions and answer them confidently. If you haven't guessed, this was a short class on wines, wine tasting, what foods go well with the wines, and at the end there is a NO pressure option to purchase some of the bottles you just sampled, and/or have them shipped to your house (for a fee). In our two hours there, Sandu covered 2 white wines, and 3 red wines. She was really good with her detail. I thought the environment very pleasant and the light foods that accompanied the wine to clean the palate were perfect. Just know this is not a dinner place (or at least we did not eat dinner), but is a place to try wines, bring a book and read while having a glass, and just enjoy the atmosphere. We definitely had a fantastic time and enjoyed it our wine tasting event, and Sandu's humor. I hope that if you decide to visit this place that your experience is as memorable and good or better than mine. Great job Sandu and hats off to the owner. 07/30/2025 Update I received my shipped wine today from Captain Drake. It shipped on 7/22. No bottles broken, and no issues. Absolutely wonderful experience here! We were able to do a walk-in tasting and the staff was amazing—very friendly and knowledgeable on the wines they have, the processes, etc. It was our first European wine tasting and she explained everything to us and answered all of our questions. The wines (with the paired meats and cheeses) were incredible— we wound up buying two of the bottles we tasted to take home! They also like to sell and highlight local vineyards and wineries which was a nice touch. 10/10 recommend if you’re in the area and looking for a good place to try wine and support local.
My husband and I had the best time at Captain Drake! They paired the wines with the perfect meat/cheese and we learned so much! Would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a wine tasting in Como!
I booked wine and food tasting via Booking. This was my first event of such type. I really enjoyed quite thorough comments about wine in general. We were guided by two sommeliers: Giuseppe and a lady whose name I sadly can’t recall. It was a perfect end of a rainy day. Additionally, I met quite some nice people there!
