The cooking class was really good and Al was very friendly and gave us all necessary instructions. He even gave us some tips about places to eat and grab a coffee around the city. Totally recommend it!

Loved the activity! We did this as a mother daughter activity and had a lot of fun. Al the guide was informative, helpful and very personable. The pasta we prepared was delicious as was the tiramisu. The other people in the group were great which added to the ambience. I definitely recommend!

What a highlight and an amazing experience we had with Luigi at our cooking class. We learned so much and Luigi was very patient king and an excellent chef. The best pasta we have ever had! This is a mist experience to take apart of while in Bologna. It was great to shop at a local market. The cooking place was so clean and lots of room and bright. We loved our time we spent doing this. Thanks again Luigi!

Please take a moment to read this. This review is genuinely important if you are looking to take a cooking class while on your adventure to Italy and Bologna in particular. Taking a Cooking Class while in Bologna is a quintessential tourist thing to do and as such there are dozens of options and classes to choose from. Luigi’s offering is 100% genuine and surpassed absolutely everything we could have expected. The logistics of meeting Luigi were easy - standing at the corner of the two towers, he walked up and greeted us by name as if we were “friends of his friends”. He spent time asking about us and what we liked, where we were from, where we had been. He shared information about himself and we were comfortable right away. Off we went shopping for ingredients for our class, stopping at cheese shops, vegetable stands, butcher shops, all in the Quadrilateral. Luigi knew all the vendors and they all had smiles for him and they would try to talk with us as much as they could (Italian / English challenges sometimes). We stopped and had a croissant and coffee giving us time to ask more questions about the area from our tour guide (Luigi is not just an excellent chef/teacher, he knows the history of the city - who knew there were 150 towers, many bigger than the existing remaining full tower). We ended up at Luigi’s place for the cooking class. Luigi worked with us to get the sauce going first, it needed 2 hours to cook on the stove.. I thought “wow, 2 hours.. what are we going to do during that time?” Well, it went FAST with all the other things we did (see pics). We talked about cooking methods, he would demonstrate and we would then do it. Luigi had a very relaxed approach with us and we felt like he was enjoying the experience as much as we were. At the end, we had the reward of our efforts. Luigi shared the recipes with us and the next time we are in town there is a 100% chance we will schedule to do this again. Please consider Luigi if you want a genuinely authentic experience of not just Italian cooking, but of an immersive day living as a local with a good friend.

Luigi was a wonderful and patient teacher who provided a memorable experience for us. We started with a tour around Bologna, picking and buying food in the market, then sitting down for a cappuccino before we headed to his home to cook. He taught us how to prepare and make two types of homemade pasta and sauces, arugula salad with steak, and tiramisu. He was kind, informative and fun to learn with. The food was amazing, but far greater was the memories we will take from this day. I highly recommend you book a class with Luigi!!!

Our experience with Luigi was fantastic. He’s a nice person and great chef and tour guide. He speaks many languages and is always happy to help you and explain every detail very clearly. As an excellent host, he makes the entire experience funny and entertaining. Personally, I asked him some questions about the city and food and he was generous with his knowledge. Finally, the meal we made was delicious and we had a good time!

Our cooking class with Luigi was the highlight of our visit in Bologna! After a short tour of downtown and some fun facts about the city we visited the beautiful outdoor market for our supplies. We had so many laughs and learned quite a few tips about making fresh pasta and traditional Bolognese sauce. Everything we prepared together from the salad to the Tiramisu was delicious!! We loved getting to know our host and hope to keep in touch. Thank you Luigi for a memorable day!💛
