Scandinavian Straw Craft Ornament Workshop

Glencairn Museum invites visitors to experience the charm of a traditional Scandinavian Christmas craft with a hands-on straw ornament workshop. Participants will have the opportunity to create their own wreaths and hearts from straw, learning a variety of weaving techniques that have been cherished in Scandinavian homes for generations. Under the guidance of skilled wheat weaver Kirsten Hansen Gyllenhaal, attendees will be led step by step through each stage of the crafting process, ensuring that everyone leaves with a beautiful handmade ornament to take home and display.

In addition to the workshop, participants will have access to Glencairn’s first floor World Nativities exhibition, offering a delightful complement to the crafting experience. Guests can explore the intricate, three-dimensional Nativity scenes from around the world and participate in a seek-and-find interactive activity, adding an element of discovery and fun for all ages. Together, the hands-on workshop and exhibition visit create a rich, engaging experience that blends creativity, culture, and holiday tradition in a welcoming Museum setting.
