Second time on the tour and enjoyed it just as much. Each tour guide has a different spin on things and will go into depth on different aspects of the hidden area. Don’t go expecting to see a lost city, visit with an open mind. Support a great cause and get to know more about Norwich’s rich history.
We took the Hidden Street tour today, with Gary as our guide. He provided a fabulous experience, informative and entertaining throughout. It is a marvellous insight to the history of the area and explains the place Norwich has taken over the centuries. This experience is absolutely worth doing and the fact it supports local charitable works is a bonus.
I had seen this tour advertised on Facebook. I am fascinated by history so it was too good an opportunity to miss to see how Norwich evolved over the last 1000 years or so. The booking procedure was easy online and there is always the options of calling in to the office or by phone. The price for the hour long tour was reasonable. I was kept updated via email about my forthcoming tour. On the day we met outside the office on Castle Meadow where we were invited inside and shown to a waiting area. Toilets are available on site. Once all together, the guide gave us a history of the building and what to expect on the tour along with a couple of health and safety issues. The tour was fascinating! To be able to see life being lived, in what we would consider, its most basic form, was enlightening. The guide was very knowledgeable and kept the group informed about every nook and cranny as we descended into this subterranean world. Time flew by and the tour ended by us being escorted out of a door and onto a street that was familiar yet not having been immersed in a different world. Thoroughly entertaining and would recommend this tour! Plus I can't wait to go on one of the other excursions they offer too!!
Took the medieval street tour today. Absolutely fascinating. Our guide Max is very knowledgeable & enthusiastic about the history of the immediate area & Norwich generally. Loads of interesting facts that were new to us even as a lifelong Norwich residents. Tour took about an hour which was perfect. Great to hear that the ticket money goes back into the community. Highly recommended experience & we will definitely go for some of the other options
Wanted to do something different on our wedding anniversary so we booked on the underground Norwich tour with Shoe box. The tour was well worth doing, amazing what is under their premises and learning the history of both the building and the area around it over the past few hundred years was very interesting. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining.
